If you are building the bathroom of your dream home, or you are busy remodeling your existing bathroom, then Murray Feiss bathroom lighting should be right at the top of your list for fixtures. The Murray Feiss company is more than 50 years old. For many of those years they have been at the forefront of designer lighting, and lighting fixtures, for interior and exterior home use. At the time of writing, their catalogue lists 205 stunningly designed fittings, and that's just the ones that are suitable for bathroom installation.

All of the fittings and fixtures are divided up into "collections". Most of the collections consist of a central design theme, and provide items for various uses. Including exterior home lighting, interior home lighting, and more specialized lighting like that required for bathrooms.

By selecting a single collection (or 2 similar collections) it is very easy to achieve design symmetry throughout your home. The available options in each collection range from sconces, vanity strips, vanity fixtures, single tier chandeliers, multi-tier chandeliers, semi flush mounts, etc. Not all of the collections have every single type of mounting and presentation though, so you need to take this into account when you make your final selections.

I would like to briefly take you through some of the more popular of the collections.

Preston Collection :

The Murray Feiss Preston collection consists of 11 separate designs. They are a 4,5 and 6 light single tier chandelier format, a 9 light multi-tier chandelier format, a 1 light mini-pendant design, a 3 light indoor semi-flush mount option and a 3 light indoor flush mount option. Additionally, the 3 designs that are specifically for damp/bathroom use consist of a 1 light sconce fitting, and vanity light fixtures in 2 and 3 lamp options.

The bathroom designs are a very simple cylindrical upward facing (open top) glass in Bark textured color, with amber colored etching around the bottom part of the glass. The fitting itself is vertical rectangular and finished in a Heritage Bronze color.

Specified at 100 watt maximum lamp power, this design is simple, elegant and understated.

Sullivan Collection :

The Sullivan collection from Murray Feiss includes five separate lighting design components. For interior room lighting there are a 6 and an 8 light, single tier, chandelier option. Additionally in this collection are 3 options that are relevant for our bathroom lighting usage. There is a single light sconce, and 2 light vanity fixture designs using 2 and 3 lights each.

The single light sconce is a vertical cylindrical design on a vertical rectangular design. The vanity fixture strips are downward facing vertical cylindrical designs. All of them have glass that is white opal in color, and the fixture sections are in silver-grey colored brushed steel.

The Sullivan collection is similar themed to the Preston collection, and is also a very elegant, and simple design.

Arabesque Collection :

The Arabesque collection is completely different from either the Preston or the Sullivan collections, in that it has a very intricate and complex design. The glass itself in most of the items is flush mounted, and comprises an intricately punched "shade" design that is fitted around it.

There are five items in this collection. These are a hanging 3 light fitting and a hanging 4 light pendant design, both for indoor use. Also for general indoor use is a 2 lamp flush mounted fitting. For use in damp areas (bathrooms) there are 2 items to interest us. A 1 light sconce design, and a 2 light vanity strip design. Both feature the intricate wrap-around shade design. The glass itself is an ivory linen color, and the wrap-around metal shade design is in silver leaf patina color.

This is quite an unusual design of light fitting for Feiss.
